DOOLEYS are lacing up their shoes to support Team Bandaged Bear at City2Surf again this year.
After a decade of supporting the Hospital, their enthusiasm has only increased over the years. Kylie Williams, a member of Team DOOLEYS, knows first-hand the importance of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Her motivation to run the race this year is for her four-year-old cousin who is currently receiving treatment at The Cancer Centre for Children.
“The hospital has shown so much love and support to my family, helping them through one of the most difficult times of their lives. I am beyond grateful for their help and raising money for Team Bandaged Bear is the least I could do," she said.
On top of her personal motivation, Kylie also sees the race as a physical challenge for herself. “I never used to enjoy running however, I have learnt to really push myself and I now love it. I also started playing AFL at the beginning of the year which aided in my fitness”.
Kylie and her colleagues in Team DOOLEYS plan group training runs together to keep each other motivated but at the end of the day, DOOLEYS' commitment to supporting this great cause is at the forefront.
In 2016, DOOLEYS were recognised as a Founder of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, after contributing over $1 million to help our patients and their families. Their generous donations have allowed the hospital to fund lifesaving equipment, research into childhood diseases, and deliver vital services to patients and families.
