Race for Grace 2020
We are thrilled to announce that this years' first-ever virtual Race for Grace has raised $82,191 for the Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care.
All funds raised will go towards research and the purchase of The Dräger© Babytherm intensive care bed. These intensive care beds provide full ventilation, monitoring, battery backup and intravenous fliud pumps so babies can be transported around the hospital for surgical interventions and imaging.
"We are so grateful that, in 2020 with all its challenges you have kept us in your hearts and continued to support us in our desire to provide the very best care for the babies we look after and their families. We would like to say thank you to everyone who registered for our Virtual Race for Grace, donated or purchased a silent auction item or raffle ticket. With your generous support we have been able to raise over $80,000 for The Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care,” said Professor Nadia Badawi, Medical Director and Co-Head of Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care.
We would like to acknowledge the effort of all of the participants who registered for the race and spread the word to their family, friends and colleagues to help us exceed our fundraising target particularly in a very challenging year.
With your generous support we can make a difference to the lives of critically-ill babies.
Event postponed to Wednesday 4 to Thursday 5 November 2020.
Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation regrets to advise we have decided to postpone the planned Race for Grace 24 hour cycling challenge on Wednesday 25 - Thursday 26 March.
The outbreak of coronavirus has caused some challenges for us and due to the risk posed by being in large crowds, it is a necessary precaution to ensure that you, as well as our staff, patients and families, are not put at risk. The health and safety of our patients, families and staff is our number one priority.
Race for Grace is a highlight of the calendar for the Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care not only because it raises vital funds, but also because it brings together families and staff for a wonderful fun and rewarding event.
The new date set for this year’s event will be Wednesday 4 – Thursday 5 November.
A message from Professor Nadia Badawi AM - Medical Director Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead
You would have seen in the news recently that there has been an outbreak of coronavirus. Understandably, we have had to make some drastic changes to the way we work in order to meet this unexpected challenge. Sadly we have had to make the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Race for Grace 24 hour cycling challenge.
This is incredibly disappointing for all of us including you who support our important work, and it was a decision that was not made lightly, but it is a necessary precaution to ensure that you, as well as our staff, patients and families, are not put at risk. The health and safety of our patients, families and staff is our number one priority.
For those who have registered and donated, I'd like to thank you so much for your generous support and encourage you to continue fundraising and join us in November when we will hold the event.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Why is the event postponed?
You would have seen in the news recently that there has been an outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus). This has caused some challenges for us and all events inside the hospital have been cancelled. The safety of yourself, our staff and our patience are our number one priority. This sadly meant that we have made the difficult decision to postpone Race for Grace 2020.
