Kicking Goals for Sick Kids 2019 24 Hour Soccer (Futsal) Marathon, is about kids (and parents too!) raising money for other kids at The Children's Hospital at Westmead
We are pleased to be holding our 8th annual event which aims to raise much needed funds for The Children's Hospital at Westmead. What better way to do this than by playing a 24hour continuous game of soccer / futsal! This year's event will again be held at The Centre Dural on Friday the 6th September (6pm) to Saturday the 7th September (6pm).
Over the last 8 years, the event has contributed over $551,000 to The Children's Hospital at Westmead. In 2018 over $130,000 was raised and used within the Heart Centre, Oncology and Neurology departments. This overall donation was matched at The Children's Hospital's 2019 Radiothon. Our aim this year is to raise over $130,000 with all proceeds to be used within the Heart Centre, Oncology and Neurology departments. The utilisation of funds are agreed with each department. This event is fully endorsed and supported by The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
This event is unique because ALL proceeds/donations from the event go directly to the hospital. There are no expenses. Everything is donated; the facility, food, marketing, t-shirts, show-bags and various other items. We have no running costs. This is not a foundation.
The Centre at Dural is an outstanding community facility and accommodates over 500 players participating in the event at various timeslots. Players range in age from 5 to over 55 years. Boys and girls, mums and dads at all levels of football. The Centre at Dural has again donated the use of their great facility. There will be a BBQ, face painting, silent auctions, raffles, super heroes, special guests and more.
The HCM Group sponsored "All Stars" game will be held Friday September 6th, 8pm to 9pm. This will feature ex Soccerroos / A League stars and current / former national futsal players. Special thanks to the players who give up their time and continue to support this event. This year the regulars like Nicky Carle, Mile Sterjovski, Brett Emerton, Patrick Zwaanswijk, Shane Smeltz and Adam Peacock will be joined by Mark Bridge, Dean Heffernan, Paul Reid, Alex Brosque, Michael Beauchamp and Nick Montgomery. They will again renew their friendly rivalry with Greg Giovenali and his futsal stars.
Thank you to the Western Sydney Wanderers for their continued support and commitment to the event.
Thank you to the Commonwealth Bank for providing showbags for all the kids.
Thank you to our major sponsors: HCM Group, Phoenix Building Approvals, Northland, Snooze Alexandria, Gosford Quarries, Chris Waller Racing, Ray White Westmead, Ivory's Special Coating, Built Corp Group, Quickfix Smash Repairs, C & A Joinery, Sitlec & the PTC group for your significant donations and Ample Firewood for your generosity & amazing 24 hour BBQ.
Special mention to Joseph Zouein and family who contribute significantly both before and during the event. Thanks to Fraser Gray from Kids Futsal who runs the 24 hour continuous game. Both have been involved for every minute for the last 7 years.
This is not only about raising money for a great cause, but about kids learning to support other kids.
Please make a donation and help us kick goals for kids with cancer, heart disease and diseases of the nervous system. Please note that all prcoceeds collected are received directly by the hospital. All donations over $2 will receive a tax receipt and are tax deductible. You will receive an automated email with a donation receipt.
