Sweet deliveries for our nurses

12 May 2020

Nurses are an important part of the healthcare community. They are on the frontline and are a crucial part of the hospital journey for patients and their families.

Today on International Nurses Day 2020, we celebrate the nursing staff on the frontline going above and beyond in their day-to-day roles to ensure every patient is met with exceptional care.

With the help of Red Rooster, Menulog, Mama Kaz, Bronte Bakery, Foundation Theatres, Coco-Cola Amatil and Snack Brands Australia our nurses were inundated with delicious donations of food, drinks and sweet treats as the local community showed their support to the hardworking nurses and midwives at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW).

Red Rooster CEO, Clint Ault, personally delivered lunch meals to nursing staff as well as his heartfelt thanks.

“The COVID-19 crisis has been a necessary reminder to all of us that our nurses and frontline medical staff are real-life superheroes. To be able to honour and spoil them with a warm and delicious lunch today was the least that we could do to say thank you. Happy International Nurses Day to everyone on the frontline working hard to keep us safe and healthy. Red Rooster salutes you,” Mr Ault said.

Director of Nursing at CHW, Alan Gardo, was humbled by the several donations made today and the support of the local community.

“The donations the staff received today have been overwhelming. It has been a challenging start to the year for our Hospital staff but all the generous donations of delicious food, drinks and sweet treats today is so greatly appreciated. It makes celebrating International Nurse’s Day that extra special when they can see the local community is right behind them and thinking of them during this time,” Mr Gardo said.

A big thank you to all for these generous donations and thank you to our nurses for the invaluable role you play in caring for sick kids. Happy International Nurses Day!
