What is the Grand Prix for Bandaged Bear?

This year the Sydney Chilren's Hospital Foundation, partnered by Western Earthmoving, are introducing the first ever Grand Prix for Bandaged Bear at Luddenham Raceway. This event is geared towards our motoring enthusiasts so you can enjoy go-karting with your work colleagues, your family, your mates, all whilst shining a light on kids health.

 

What does my registration fee cover?

Your registration fee to this event includes your go-karting session, a balaclava, race licence and 1 meal & drink voucher from our catering partner Outback Steakhouse.

Can I make a team with my work colleagues?

Yes, we will have a maximum of 20 karts on the track for any given heat, so we can arrange for you and your work colleagues, family members or mates, to compete against each other in your heat, just let us know when you are registering.  

How long is a go-karting session?

Each Grand Prix session goes for around 10 minutes (roughly 10-12 laps) with your race time recorded by Luddenham Raceway.  At the completion of all heats, the fastest 20 individuals will compete in the Grand Final for the inuaugural Grand Prix for Bandaged Bear Cup.   The top 2 teams will also compete against each other in a Teams Grand Final. 

What other activities will there be?

Along with your ticket to go-karting, we will be offering additional adrenalin opportunities for purchase, such as drifting, hot laps in performance vehicles, a silent auction, raffles to be won and food trucks...   

We will also have opportunities to view some car displays throughout the afternoon.

Please note: these additional opportunities will have costs involved. All additional opportunities will be in vehicles provided.

 

Can I bring my own car to this event and race?

No, unfortunately you cannot drive your own vehicle around the course at Luddenham during our event time.  We will have many opportunities for you to have an added adrenalin rush with a variety of performance vehicles available on the day.  Luddenham Raceway have many packages for purchase if you are interested in coming back another time, please visit Luddenham's website.

Is there parking on-site?

Yes, there is plenty of parking at the venue, however we do suggest you car pool if you can.

What will the funds raised for this event be directed towards?

All funds raised through this event will help us to shine a light on kids health, funding the very latest medical equipment, lifesaving research and essential services for sick kids and their families.

How do I purchase a ticket?

You can purchase your tickets on our event page.

Can I just turn up on the day?

No, Luddenham Raceway will be closed to the general public during our event time, all people attending will need a confirmation of registration from SCHF to access the track.  This will help us to ensure that all COVID-19 safety measures are being adhered to.

 

Can I bring my child along?

Whilst children are always welcome to attend the day, they unfortunately will not be able to participate in any of the driving activities. 

Please note: any children attending should be accompanied by an adult at all times.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

What should I wear?

Please ensure you wear closed in footwear (sneakers or similar) and no loose or flowing clothing, eg scarves, long dresses or cardigans.  It is also recommended to tie all hair back for your go-karting experience.

 

Is membership/a licence required to drive a go-kart?

You will need to provide a licence and/or photo identification for registration purposes.  Once all paperwork has been completed, you will be provided with a Luddenham Raceway licence which will be all you need for our event.  This licence is also valid for 12 months, so you can visit Luddenham Raceway again anytime throughout the year.

 

Can I bring food/drinks to this event?

You will not need to bring any food or drinks with you to this event as your entry price includes a drink and food voucher from our food partners Outback Steakhouse.  You can of course purchase more food/drinks if you wish on the day. 

Please note; this is an alcohol free event.

 

What happens in wet weather?

Luddenham Raceway is an outdoor venue, so please come prepared with the appropriate attire.  In the event of light rain, the event will still go ahead, however, in extreme weather conditions, the event will be postponed to another date.  In this instance, all registrants will be contacted by 9am, Friday 25 June by a SCHF staff member.

 

Can I bring my own helmet?

You can bring your own helmet as long as it has the Australian Standards Stickers on it and the helmet is not damaged in any way.

 

Can I bring a go-pro and/or recording device?

Yes you can, however we do ask that all footage is shared with Luddenham Raceway & the Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation prior to any publication.

Please note: photography and video footage will be taken throughout the day and shared on SCHF social media and could also be used in future promotion.  If you do not wish to be photographed, please let a SCHF staff member know on the day.

 

What measures are you taking to ensure a COVID safe event?

Your safety is our priority and we take our responsibility to you, our volunteers and our staff seriously. 

To ensure we provide a COVID safe event while still raising much needed funds for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead we will be implementing the following procedures and precautions;

  • Constant monitoring of the Covid-19 situation and restrictions in place.
  • COVIDsafe plan approved by the relevant federal, state and local health authorities.
  • QR code check in at the venue.
  • Appointed Covid safety marshals in place.
  • We encourage all participants to download the Australian Government Covid-19 app on their own device.
  • Hand sanitiser will be readily available around the venue.
  • If we are unable to hold the physical event due to the ever-changing Covid climate we will postpone the event to a future date. Participants will be kept informed of any modifications to the event.

If the physical event is unable to proceed due to Covid your registration will automatically be transferred to the next event date. Refunds will only be processed upon request.
